Why I Can Have Any Valentine I Want

I’ve never had a cavity, and I never dangle my participles.

According to a recent survey of over five thousand people, “When judging a potential date, both men and women rate teeth at the top, followed by grammar.”

So, Jake, pick me up tonight at 8.

Is grammar at the top of your list when judging a potential date?

if you've been following my blog, it's been a bad year for my teeth: root canal, gold tooth, etc.

That's pretty amazing, actually. :) I have pretty good teeth, so... any date, hmm?

My dates rarely are sober enough to speak....most women find they need to take the edge off with a fifth of something before dating me!

Actually, while grammar is not number one, overall verbal communication is certainly a factor...nothing worse than meeting someone I think is attractive only to then hear her cuss like a sailor!

My teeth are in terrific shape, despite my aversion to dentists.

I have a little more faith in humanity, knowing that grammar ranks near the top.

I almost forgot....

Given enough time, almost everyone will see at least one cavity...

And the older one gets, the more likely those particles are to dropp and eventually dangle!

It has been a bit since I was last on the open market, so I honestly can't say what would be the most important thing to me at this point.

Probably having a nice, juicy, well-rounded ... sense of humor. :-)

I never really assess people for dating or anything but I do place quite a high standard on grammar.

Personally, I don't think the folks who participated knew the meaning of the word, grammar!

Just my cynical observation.

This is one of those, 'don't believe everything you read' surveys -- right?

It's ok to put a big red "X" on my typo....

My participials often dangle. But I'm working on it, I'm learning to be more considerate to the reader. Great lesson.

I'm not looking for a potential date, but grammar makes the top five of everyone I meet. Maybe the top three, depending on the person.

Are you serious? Participles are meant to be dangled and mangled (how not to be!) - the more dangled and mangled, the better the dingle. I am not too sure about cavities though. And Valentine, according to Pas, Malaysia's Islamic party, is the devil himself, although a Christian one. I don't care about Pas - for all I care, they are the devil themselves. But I want my Valentine kiss.

In a way, yes. Because it shows that you're:

1) educated enough to know the difference between things like "your" and "you're" and

2) care enough to actually show that you know the difference.

You've said grammar is sexy, and now you have proof! If someone doesn't speak correctly, it's not attractive.
