The Day Is Nigh

The day when dangling participles stand erect, when subjects and verbs agree, when Americans conjugate all night long.

Yes, National Grammar Day, celebrated on March 4, will be here in a few short days.

In honor of this glorious holiday, I will be spreading the grammar cheer by giving away five copies of my book on Goodreads. The winners will be chosen on March 4. Here’s the link. Sign up. NOW!

Sorry ... I just got a little excited.

How are you going to celebrate National Grammar Day?

I was thinking about drinking COMMApolitans with friends and cruising the town for some cute singular nouns (not nouns that are too proper, though).

There's a Grammar day? That's awesome. I make every day Grammar Day personally though.

I'll celebrate by trying to not make my editor contemplate other careers the next time I send her something. :-)

Singular nouns, proper or not, can conjugate. But it won't work to just dangle participles, hanging or not. Me, I go equalize subject verb object on the go.

I've got a conjunction function already planned. What a wonderful day it will be!

I'll celebrate it by writing a paper that's going to be assigned. ._.

Hmmm, I'll have to find out if we celebrate Grammar Day in Canada (and if not, why not?). If not, I'm sure you won't mind if I celebrate with my students anyway! :)

I went to your Goodreads link, but couldn't find where to win the book. I even scrolled through all the giveaways and your book isn't listed (of those expiring Mar 4). Or maybe I'm just blind? Which is a good possibility...

Anyways, Happy Grammar Day to you!

I'm not sure a Commapolitan would get on well with my colon. :-P It's very sensitive, and it might mean I'll end up constantly Dash-ing to the loo ...

I'm sending my editor flowers and chocolates! She's an angel who makes a living correcting my atrocious grammar! Thank you, Barbara!

Ooh! I would so go for a COMMApolitan. I'll leave the cruising for singular nouns to others, however.
