Let's Do It for Our Country

When I hear the name George W. Bush, it reminds me just how grammatically corrupt DC can be. But it’s not just Bush: Back in 1992, Dan Quayle famously misspelled “potato” as "potatoe." Believe it or not, Harvard grad Barack Obama used “their” when he should have used “there” during an online discussion. And one of Mitt Romney’s campaign signs promised “A Better Amercia.”

Therefore, in order to do my duty as an American citizen, I will embrace these words of John F. Kennedy: “Ask not what you’re country can due for you, but what you can due for you’re country!”

Accordingly, I will be holding not one but two book readings in the DC area for my grammar book. George, Dan, Barack, and Mitt, you are all cordially invited.

Here’s the info:

December 15 @ 2pm
Books-A-Million
11 Dupont Cir NW
(at Connecticut Ave. NW)
Washington, DC 20036

December 17 @ 6pm
Busboys and Poets
4251 South Campbell Avenue
Arlington, VA 22206

And, blogger friends, if you are in the area, I would love it if you would come too!

Believe it or not, I can EASILY believe that. After all, this is the same man who during a campaign stop said that he had already visited 57 states and had one more to go.

Hell, his English is far superior to his geography!

And don't even get me started on
George W(ish I had a brain) Bush!

Now don't be too hard on old GW-after all, he kept us out of a nucular war!

And take it easy on old Danny...you say "potato," he says "potatoe." Let's call the whole thing off!

Here's hoping your book travels bring you to Phoenix!

Come up to MA. Or go to DC again during Feb break. I think I might visit then. I'd like my book signed. Actually, I'd like to find my book. I lost it. Looks like you might get two sales from me.

I don't mind if people confuse their/there before editing because when we're quick, we slip sometimes (well, maybe not YOU). I look at my manuscripts and find that instead of than all the time. But Obama did it all the time, I'd totally call him out.

And I'm not forgiving potatoe because I'm positive Quayle had no idea he'd spelled it wrong.

I 100 % wish was in the DC area! I would love to go to this. Also, thanks for sharing that Presidents also have grammar errors. Makes me feel a bit better about myself!
