Time to Move On

We Americans have been through a lot in the last decade: a terrorist attack, natural disasters, a couple of wars, and a moment there when it looked like Sarah Palin might have had a chance at the vice presidency. And, of course, the big one, the one we’re still reeling from: in just over a week, it will be the five year anniversary of Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt’s divorce.

Can you believe it’s already been five years? It feels like it was just yesterday when the perfect marriage crumbled right before our eyes, causing us to lose faith in the sanctity of the institution of marriage. Look what it did to Tiger Woods’ marriage. Heidi and Spencer didn’t stand a chance.

So, I get it. I get it. Those of you who write isle when you should be writing aisle are not doing it on purpose. It’s just an unconscious protection mechanism taking you away from the thought of this aisle:

to this isle:

However, no matter how much it still hurts, it’s grammatically incorrect. So, let’s take a moment to remember all of the good things about aisles. Maybe then it will be easier.

It’s better to get an aisle seat on an airplane than a middle one:

This aisle has cookies:

And this couple walked down the aisle almost thirty years ago, and they are as happy as can be:

I wonder if Danny has a brother for Jen.

I'm sure Jen wouldn't mind a bit if Danny's brother was anything like the one he had in the movie Twins.

Has it really been five years? That feels both too short a period of time (weren't they together, like, yesterday?) and too long (HOW many kids has Brangelina had since then?).

And personally, I'd give much more for an isle than an aisle right now. I'm sure Jen agrees.

You know, it actually feels as though "Brangelina" has been around forever -- to me, at least -- so I'm a bit surprised that it's only been five years.

I think that's probably on account of all the kids they've adopted (still waiting for them to adopt me...) and/or conceived on their own.

Either that or the fact they are on the cover of US Weekly every other week.

Just looking at Danny and....Rhea is it?, makes me smile.

A valuable lesson on aisle versus isle. I would hate to have to get my cookies by walking all the way to the cookie isle. The fish don't like it when I try to step on them.

:) I HATE the aisle/isle thing - it always messes me up. *sigh*

I rather go to the isle than down the aisle again. It has such a stupid spelling.

I've already walked down the aisle... I need to get my booty to an isle ASAP!!!

Mmmmmm. Cookies.

Mostly though, I think aisles are overrated... I want an Isle, though... badly.

I think you've illustrated well that shared laughter has a lot better longevity than eye candy. Though there is something to be said for financial inter-dependence... hmph.

hahahaha! That's great. I shall never mistake isle for aisle again. But I might have some trouble with I'll. :P

Aye for aisles. I hate being stuck in between two people, especially large ones. Nothing against large people. I just don't want to be sardined between two of them.

I agree with Christijolu. You make me laugh during a grammar lesson. How is that possible? You have quite the talent, my dear.

You've got to love Danny - still married and on one of the funniest shows ever.

I, too, have dropped "a" from isle so I can only think of tropical paradises and not the possible demise of Speidi. Did I spell that right?
